Xinggang: Establishing a "Digital Account" for Carbon Emissions, Full-Process Carbon Footprint Management Launched
  Updatetime:2025-03-28 Hits:
Recently, Xingtai Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xinggang") successfully held the "2025 Evaluation Meeting on Excellent Achievements in Energy Conservation, Emission Reduction and Carbon Reduction Innovation and Improvement". Organized by the company's Carbon Asset Management Department, 12 innovative achievements from production units such as the Ironmaking Plant, Steelmaking Plant, and Energy and Power Department participated in the evaluation. Deputy General Manager Hou Haoran led a team of technical experts to conduct professional evaluations on the projects from dimensions such as technological innovation, implementation feasibility, economic benefits, and actual carbon emission reduction effects, providing quantifiable practical cases for iron and steel enterprises to implement the "dual carbon" strategy.

The participating projects focused on key links in the production process, achieving carbon reduction and efficiency improvement through technological research and management optimization. Data shows that the "Reducing Blast Furnace Fuel Ratio" project of the Ironmaking Plant stabilized the fuel ratio at 525kg/t through raw material quality control, process parameter optimization, and equipment defect elimination, a decrease of 3.2% compared with before the transformation, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 26,000 tons annually; the "Reducing Water Consumption per Ton of Steel" project of the Steelmaking Plant established a full-process water usage account and optimized the circulating water system, achieving a 15% reduction in new water consumption per ton of steel, saving 450,000 cubic meters of water annually; the "Controlling Power Generation Material Consumption" project of the Energy and Power Department innovated the fuel ratio method, driving a year-on-year 8% decrease in power generation costs. It is estimated that the annual comprehensive energy savings of the participating projects can reach 12,000 tons of standard coal, with 38,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions reduced, highlighting Xinggang's innovative strength in green and low-carbon development.

During the evaluation process, the expert team strictly verified the project effects, focusing on checking energy consumption data monitoring records, comparison test reports before and after transformation, and third-party testing certificates. Dai Liang, Director of the Carbon Asset Management Department, stated that the company has established a special mechanism for achievement transformation, requiring all award-winning projects to provide 6 consecutive months of operation data as the basis for promotion. Currently, 3 technologies, such as the fuel ratio control in the Ironmaking Plant and the optimization of the circulating water system in the Steelmaking Plant, have been promoted in the group's internal production lines, with relevant data incorporated into the enterprise's carbon emission accounting system.

Xinggang has deeply integrated the "dual carbon" goals into its production and operation, and has continuously increased investment in green technological transformation in recent years. This evaluation meeting particularly emphasized the synergy between technological innovation and management upgrading. The judges suggested strengthening industry-university-research cooperation and introducing digital means such as online monitoring of furnace flue gas and intelligent energy management and control platforms to further tap carbon reduction potential. The company plans to establish a benchmark database for carbon emission intensity of key processes in 2025, achieving precise management and control of the full-process carbon footprint in production through data-driven approaches.

As a key iron and steel enterprise in Hebei Province, Xinggang has systematically promoted process innovation, energy efficiency improvement, and resource recycling. In the past three years, the comprehensive energy consumption per unit product has decreased by 12% cumulatively, and the carbon emission intensity has decreased by 9.6%. This evaluation activity not only demonstrated the company's practical achievements in the field of green manufacturing but also provided technical references for the industry to explore carbon reduction paths in high-energy-consuming links, marking a solid step forward in the green transformation of the iron and steel industry from macro strategies to micro implementation.
